We stayed in the Walmart parking lot in Cody, so we could visit the Buffalo Bill Historical Center that we'd heard such good things about. It's really five museums in one building; the Buffalo Bill Museum, the Natural History Museum, a western arts museum, a gun collection museum and the Plains Indian museum. Now, me being a girl, after I saw a few guns, that was enough for me. In fact, we came to the end and it said if you had already toured and seen the 1500 firearms on this floor, you may be interested in seeing 1200 more. Not me, but, Ron decided to go on down there. I told him I was going to see the western art, because I figured he wouldn't want to look at that.
I was really impressed with this painting of a big cat, it just didn't look like it had been painted, it looked just like a photograph. On one of the pictures I'm going to post, you're going to see the cat on a poster hanging outside the center. It was just amazing that the fur was individually painted, I wish I had gotten a picture of it, but, Ron had the camera and he wasn't with me.
Around town ther were sculptures of rodeo riding, Indians in a canoe and a bear fighting off an eagle to protect her baby. Cody also has a nightly rodeo during the summer. This is a real wild west town!
