Now, about my arm. We went to the medical center here on base to see if they could see me, without me having to go to an outside doctor. All I wanted to know was if they could check my arm and see if it's fractured or what. I managed to get an appointment with a primary care physician on Wednesday. He looked at it, feeling around and stuff. He decided that I needed to get an MRI, because those were clearer to look at than an exray, so I managed to get a same day appointment off base. The medical center does not have an emergency room nor do they do MRI's because they are building a brand new hospital over by the VA. So, off I went to get my first ever MRI. I made an appointment to come back and see the doctor on Friday, which was yesterday.
So, I had my MRI on a little disc and went in to see the doctor. He basically told me that my arm showed no fractures that went into the bone, but, that it did show that I had spider fractures instead. He also said it was still pretty swollen around the elbow area and gave me Motrin to help with the inflammation. He was pretty sure that it would heal on its own without his help, but, to be sure about that, he wanted me to get a CT Scan, a blood test and to make an appointment with the orthopedic specialist in the clinic. Now, why he couldn't just get a consult with the orthopedic doctor, before I came in there yesterday is beyond me, but, whatever.
So, off I went, got my blood test, got an appointment for my CT Scan, but, when it came to making the appointment with the ortho doc, the receptionist told me to just come back on Tues, after I had my CT Scan and see what the doctor thought. He didn't want the doc to see me and then have me up and leave right in the middle of doing something about it, if indeed I need anything done. So, there it stands right now. I do not have my arm in the hard splint or a sling. It feels okay, except when my arm accidentally straightens out, then, it kind of hurts. I use it as much as I can and if it starts hurting, I stop. But, I'm not going to baby it along, especially if the doctor thinks there is really nothing wrong with it. So, I'll let you all know, when I know...later, I may get pictures of the old car when we go to the car show tonight.
