After we got done checking out the town, we drove on over to Grand Forks. Now, this is the town, that back in 1997, the Red River overflowed its banks and just kept on going. I remember hearing about this famous flood and couldn't understand how it could just keep going and going and going. Apparently it is very flat and there was nothing to stop it from flowing down all over the place. We met a guy in town and he said it flowed about 1o miles past its banks. WOW! Can you imagine? Not only that, but, it got quite high, you'll see a picture of just how high it got. We drove around looking at the buildings, to see if we could see the water lines left, even though this happened 12 years ago. Supposedly, some of the buildings had plaques to show where the water came, but, we never saw any to help us see.
