A couple of days later, we decided to drive part of the Natchez Trace and see all the stuff on and off the Trace. Our very first stop was the Meriweather Lewis memorial & gravesite. The memorial explains it all. To think he went on that big expedition all the way to the west coast, through dangerous lands and rivers, never knowing what they might encounter and then he comes back and is killed....
