We finally left our friend's house last Monday morning, headed for Natchez Trace Widerness, another Thousand Trails park, in southern Tennessee, about 80 miles south of Nashville. I didn't realize there were this many of the preserves in the east and south, but, we are finding them. This one is a little on the rough side, they need to seriously fix the roads and sites around here. This is a big park and it, too, sits on a lake. Of course, all the good lake front sites were taken, mostly by long term rentals, either that or they were so uneven, we couldn't park there...yes, I know we have new levelers, but, the rear ones got messed up practically the first time we used them, mostly because of the wet grass we parked on. So, we have to wait until we get to Yuma to get them fixed & hopefully, relocated to a better spot under the rig.
The continuing heat wave has forced us to mainly stay inside, but, there were a few days that weren't as hot and we got out to drive around the countryside to see what we could see. One of the days, we drove into the nearby town of Lawrenceburg. We walked around the square in the historic downtown area, browsing in the shops and then had lunch. One of the shops was devoted to the Cherokee Indians. There were all sorts of stuff and info in there, but, the thing that caught my eye was the fact that the Cherokees had a connection with the Hebrews. Something about some artifacts they found around the area, looked a lot like things of the Hebrews. I would have liked to read more about it, but, Ron wanted to move on....
