The whole drive around the canyon, it was cloudy & cool, but, of course, the later it got, the hotter it started to get, so by the time we got on the boat, it was sticky. We realized a little too late that we should have gone on the lake first while it was cool & then drove around the canyon while it was hot, because we would have been driving in the air conditioning, but, we still had fun despite all the heat.
Gary had to go back to work on Monday morning, so we left the same day & headed to the Natchez Trace Thousand Trails, where we are right now. This is another preserve that needs some TLC. Being right off the Trace, you would think they would want this park to look nice, but, the roads need some new paving and the sites themselves could use some work to level them. Most of them are very uneven to park on. Fortunately, the one we picked is fine.
We haven't taken any pictures yet, today it rained all day and is still raining off and on. Tomorrow, is supposed to be nicer, so I'm hoping we can drive on the Trace up towards Nashville & take some pictures of what is along the way. Meriweather Lewis' gravesite is not too far from here, we passed it yesterday on our way to the town of Hohenwald where we'll be getting our mail. We didn't stop to look because we didn't have our camera, so hopefully, tomorrow, we'll have some pictures to share of what is in this area.
I did want to post this one picture that I forgot to post before. We saw this very cool water tower on our drive down through South Carolina...see what you think of it...
