We had been talking about where we should go next. I know Ron wanted to visit an old Navy buddy of his who lives in Cedar Bluff, AL, which is just west of Atlanta, GA. There was another Thousand Trails about 100 miles east of Atlanta, in South Carolina, near the state border. There was also an RPI park we could go to along the coast also near the GA border. If we weren't on a time constraint, we probably would have gone down near the coast, we haven't been in that part of the world since 1993, but, we decided against it. That will have to come on another visit to the south....

Since it was about 500 miles to that destination, we decided to take two days to get there. I knew I had heard somewhere that some Boomer friends lived in North Carolina, so we sent a message to them to try & find out where they lived. Actually, we had two friends who lived in the state, but, unfortunately, one of them lived down on the coast in the southern part of the state and we had already decided we weren't headed that way.....next visit....

The night before we left coastal Virginia, our friends, Gene & Martha, sent us a note telling us they'd love to see us and we could stay overnight in the local Wal-Mart. I looked on the map & it looked like Greensboro would be the perfect place to stop, as it was about the halfway point. The day was cool for our drive down the state, we really were fortunate, because up to that point, it had been quite hot & humid....We got there in the early afternoon & busied ourselves with stuff we had to do before they came to get us to go out to dinner. Ron had been wanting some Mexican food for awhile, so we set out to find a restaurant. We passed quite a few before we settled on one that looked like it might be good. We weren't disappointed in the least with our selection, even Gene & Martha commented on how good it was. After dinner, they took us back to their daughter's house, where they were staying, and played pegs 'n jokers, a card & board game. For those of our friends who knows what that is all about, the girls WON!!

We had a wonderful night of dinner & cards, thank you Gene & Martha, we hope we get to see you this winter!
