For those of you who might decide to drive through the Petrified Forest, you won't even see anything until you get closer to the southern half of the park. I was getting a bit annoyed, because I wasn't seeing anything, mile after mile. Finally, we stopped at a place called the Crystal Forest and there were a whole bunch of them. All the petrified wood I have ever seen always looks like a giant piece of stone. But, this bunch did look like wood, with the bark still on it and one looked like it had been charred, it was great! There was a path through them all, but, we just walked a little way. Don't expect to see forests, because although these once were standing trees, now, it's just open land with blobs of logs here and there as you will see...
