Looking at these cliff dwellings, you are probably wondering how in the heck did they get out to tend their gardens on top of the mesas? They most certainly did not have steps or ladders climbing up to the top, that's for sure. As you will see in the one of the pictures, they made hand and toe holds going up and down the cliffs. I must say, looking at those little itty bitty indentions in the rock, I would have been scared to death going up and down that way, but, it was a way of life for these people, they probably didn't even give it a second thought.
