Our last week of work went soooo sloooow for me. The campground had been slow after the kids went back to school, but, after Labor Day was over, it was even slower if you can imagine that. No one coming in for hours on end, so I started taking a book to read at work. There is only so many times you can wash the windows, dust the shelves and sweep the floor. After that, everything is as clean as you can get it, so you deal with the boredom however you can. So, it was a loooong five more days.
On the day before our last day, our manager, Judy, came around and invited us to dinner Monday night. The ended up taking us to the nicest restaurant in town, called the Red Raven. They were right, the food was delicious! We had a great time talking about our past travels, they asked us which place we liked the best, always a hard question to answer, because each place has something unique about it. It was a great ending to a hard summer of work for us.
The next morning we were off to Mesa Verde in the Jeep. We had opted to stay at the lodge in the park for one night. We decided since we had all day to get there, we took the route that would take us through 4 corners. I have heard that the actual monument that the Indians have set up is off the mark by a couple miles or so. For those of you who remember it from long ago, the Indians have commercialized it with booths selling Indian crafts all around. We just went in there and took our pictures and then left. It was the first time we've been there, but, we've heard from others that it just to be very natural looking, nothing around but desert. Too bad it still doesn't look that way....
