We finally made it to I-40 and started west. There were thunderstorms all around us all the way home, but, we managed to bypass most of them with just a few drops here and there. I had mentioned to Ron that we were always driving by the Petrified Forest, but, never stopping to see what was there. We still had daylight, so we pulled off. It's a 28 mile loop that goes north, first, through the Painted Desert, and then turns south into the Petrified Forest. As I mentioned, it was getting cloudier by the minute, so even though we took some pictures of the Painted Desert, it would have been prettier, I'm sure, with the sun shining.
