A couple of the more interesting looking houses in town...

We capped off the week by finally getting down to see Bisbee. We'd heard lots about it being an old copper mining town, but, we wanted to see if for ourselves. Our first stop, of course, was looking at the old open pit mine in town and took some pictures of it. Our next stop was to see the vintage trailer court, where you can rent the trailer of your choice for a night or more fully furnished. I think I first saw it on the Travel Channel & they were showing the insides of some of them. We took lots of pictures there, older trailers of the 40's & 50's, they even have a boat & a Flxible Clipper bus, like the one that was in RV with Robin Williams. Of course, some of them didn't have stoves, but, not to worry, there's a Diner on the premises. Of course, the day we were there, it was closed or we would have eaten lunch there.

We had been running our friends ragged since we'd gotten there, so on Wednesday, we gave them a day off of running. While they stayed home & caught up on things, we drove down to Sierra Vista to meet another Flxible member & see his bus. We spent a little while with him, then, drove over to the Ft Huachuca Army base to see the museums on the history of the old Army forts back in the 1800's. This fort was home to the Buffalo Soldiers.
Another place we had wanted to visit for awhile was Kartchner Caverns and again, Jack & Jeanne hadn't gotten around to going there yet, either. So, on Tuesday, we headed to see them. We managed to get reservations the day before and since we had advanced reservations, we didn't have to pay an extra parking fee.

Unfortunately, we couldn't take pictures at all in the caverns, something about it slowing down the tours, but, that was okay. Everything was tightly controlled, two airlock doors getting in so no unnecessary air from outside could come in to dry everything out and we were instructed to be aware that if any part of our body or clothing touched anything inside, we were to tell our guide immediately, so she could tag it and it would be cleaned by the cleaning crew. Our tour guide was the best! She knew everything there was to know about that cave and then some. I have got to say, that is the best cavern we've seen anywhere and because everything was still living, it was more vivid in its appearance. They all looked like they would be soft & pliable to the touch. Our guide shined a laser light on a dead stalactite and it just showed surface light, but, then, she shined it on one that was alive & the light glowed from within. If any of you have not been on this cave tour, GO!! You will enjoy yourselves a lot!!
Each person had their own apartment, which was two story with the bedroom being upstairs. Each living room area was decorated to each individual's taste, so even though they had a homelike atmosphere, they were still separated by distance from family & friends.
