Prior to our lunch at Pat's, we took a detour down to what used to be the Naval shipyards, where Ron was stationed in 1990. Most all of the buildings are still there, especially the older officer's housing, which always looked so stately. We found the drydock areas & even found two carriers tied up to the piers; the USS Forrestal and the John F. Kennedy. As soon as 1999, there was interest in buying the Forrestal for a museum ship in Baltimore, but, the Navy shot them down & want to sink it to make a reef for divers. It is ongoing still, not sure who will win...the Kennedy is available for donation or memorial to a qualified organization.
