It started out to be such a beautiful day for a boat ride, but, towards the end of it, it clouded up and started raining a bit. As long as the sun stayed behind the clouds, it was wonderful, but, as soon as it made its appearance, it got downright hot! We were glad it didn't make its appearance much yesterday or we all would have been burned to a crisp. Because we didn't have our good camera, we missed pictures of a mama duck and her babies, the loons, that are so beautifully colored, a turtle out sunning itself and a huge eagles nest. There were also people out fishing, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing and boats pulling tubes of kids and waterskiers. We had such a wonderful time!

Well, all good things must come to an end and we had to start south. We didn't want to have to drive all the way down to North Chicago all in one day, so we decided to leave this morning and try to get as far down south as possible.

One of the things we did want to do is have lunch at this great Mexican restaurant in downtown Oshkosh. If any of you are looking for good Mexican food, this place is it! The owner used to go to the same high school as me back in El Cajon, CA. She and her sister decided to move out to Wisconsin and open up a Mexican restaurant. I asked her why she picked this place and she really had no good answer to give me. She said it started out kind of slow, people coming in and asking what is a taco, with the accent being as a long A and she also said she threw out numerous plates of rice & beans. But, she's been in business now for 40 years and she has quite a loyal following. The name of the restaurant is Lara's Tortilla Flats and is on Main St, north of the downtown area.

So, anyway, we finally found it, only to be disappointed to find out that it is closed on Sundays. Now, you know what that's like, thinking of eating some good Mexican food that you haven't really had since you left California, and it's closed! So, we "settled" for Subway sandwiches, good stuff, but, not the same at all.

So, we continued on down south. As we drove, I could see a nasty storm headed our way coming out of the east. We had already gone through a few showers already, but, on our way to find this one particular campground, we went through a doozy of a thunderstorm. The wind was blowing every which way, we could hardly see the road. Good thing we were on a country road and didn't have to go very fast. I took one picture of what it looked like out the front windshield, it didn't come out very good, but, at least you'll get the idea.

We ended up coming to a dead end and having to turn around. We thought quite strongly of just stopping for the night right there, but, I knew that campground had to be around someplace, so we put it into our GPS and came right to it. We were on the wrong road, so here we are in a county park about 7 miles north of Racine. We're only about 40-50 miles from our final destination for the next two weeks, so that is a good thing.
